Black Geyser New Player Help

New Player Help Tips & Tricks

Dynamic Multi-Classing System

Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness provides players with the freedom to master than one of the 14 Classes. These classes can be generally divided into the 4 classic archetypes - fighter, healer, rogue, and caster, and multi-classing will allow characters to fit into the grey area between these roles.

The Multi-Class feature in Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness is only available during Character Creation. If you choose to create your own character, you will have the option to choose multi-class when you are choosing your Class.

You may specialize in up to 3 classes. When picking your first class, which will be the core profession that define your character, you may choose any of the 14. Next is your sub class, which you can choose from a pool of 4 classes that are compatible with your core profession. This will be your secondary specialty, intended to support and synergise with the primary class. The final class will then be automatically determined by your first two choices, giving your character some additional flavor of this specialization as you will have access to a select portion of this classes powers.

Things to consider when Creating a Build

When creating your first build during character creation, consider the Stats presented, also keep in mind that along the way, this character will be accompanied by companions that will have their own set of traits.

Just How Much Do My Decisions Matter?

Black Geyser Couriers of Darkness features an innovative Greed System, where player's actions will influence the entire community of Isilmerald. In a land riddled with corruption, your negative actions, such as threatening or bribing for more rewards after Quests,  can worsen the actions of those around you. Vendors will unreasonably raise Item prices, numbers of scavengers will rob your loot when you are vulnerable, NPCs will perform negative actions out of anxiety, regular peasants may join the bandits, and at worse, the accumulated sin of the world my call back the dead to cause further chaos.

Not Just Black and White

The Greed System creates even more interesting complexities to the game, especially for the sneaky pranksters who want to specialize as a rogue character. The game provides a multitude of ways for you get around obstacles and opposing NPCs, and one of the more creative ways are known as "plant item" - where you can plant an item in another character's pocket, and frame them of stealing. Actions like these are highly intelligent, and efficient at completing objectives during Quests, yet it will also set off a chain of negative effects across the Isilmerald society due to negativity from greed.  Therefore, are you going to employ ethically grey methods to achieve your goals? will you stick to your virtues, or will you do whatever it takes to advance in your personal endeavors? the decision is up to you.

A Shifting Economy

Indifferent to previous CRPGs, vendors and merchants behave more dynamically in Black Geyser. Due to the world being slowly consumed by the Goddess of Greed, Zornilsa, merchants will raise their prices to catch up to the market if they notice people around them getting richer. Thus, rapidly completing quests and making a good living to pile up on cash may actually work against you.

Forming A Party - Recruiting the Right Members

You will first begin your journey as a single protagonist. Throughout this adventure, you will progressively meet and interact with thrill-seeking NPCs who would offer to join you in your quest. You may accept up to four NPCs into your party, forming a group of five, commanding more power in battle. However, depending on your goal in Black Geyser's dynamic game play and multi-fauceted story line, NPCs with unpleasant agendas may work against your plan.

Are Skills and Spells Used Outside of Combat?

Upon character creation, players granted a set amount of points to allocate between different Skills and Spells, much like Attributes. Skills and Spells are categorized into three parts - General, Class Specific, and Weapons. Although skills in Weapons and Class sections are nearly all Combat oriented, many General Skills and Spells, such as "Brewing and Drying" or "Learning and Research", are meant for a variety of purposes to advance in the game.

What is the Point of Neutral Monsters?

With barely any money to purchase Items or gears the presence of neutral monsters, such as foxes, will allow you to amass some useful income to upgrade your equipment, especially when you have not completed any Quests yet, or have no access to any of them at that point in time.

What Exactly is Evasion?

Evasion is an aggregate Stat that, combined from the chances of dodging, parrying or blocking an incoming attack. The base dodging chance while wearing a piece of armor is modified by the armor's weight class.
